character! !!

So, you want to make a character...

First of all: awesome! Thanks for being interested in us!

Second of all: there's a lot of things you might find necessary! We're going to assume you already looked at the rules,, the site plot, and the FAQ. Specific information we're sure you've taken away by now- hi! We're an animation personified site set in Seoul with member-based kpop idols! Now that the introduction is out of the way, we can move on to the stuff that doesn't seem to obvious.

First of all, some helpful links! For those of you who - like myself - came into this knowing nothing about Kpop or South Korea in general, that's okay! We have some very helpful resources for you! Specifically:
  • A Brief Tour of South Korea - written by Lars, this dives in deep to a lot of things that are going to be very important to your character, especially if they were born in South Korea or have lived there for a while. Please give it a quick read over!
  • The Resource Thread - Here you can find so many helpful things! FC masterlists, how to name a character, what the idol life is like, what Seoul specifically is like... it's super helpful!
  • An honorifics list - Just a quick review of some honorifics used in South Korea, with a few links elsewhere!

However, these are certainly not the end-all, be-all! Don't feel like you need to know everything about everything to make a character! We are relatively AU in nature, if things get a little wonky... that's alright. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Once you've looked those over, you kind of have a good idea how this all works, right? So now you're probably wondering - How the heck do I make a character??? To that, we have several other super helpful links!
  • The Member Groups - my personal favorite thread onsite. This provides you not only with the knowledge of all of our different agencies and bands onsite, but also links to every single character's profile!
  • The wanted ads (and, during July 2018, the Swap n Shop) - these are what many people find to be the best way to join a site! If you take a want ad, you're immediately involved in so many plots! They can be great for getting ideas as to what would be needed for characters, too!
  • The Face Claim list - This is where you can see all the faces currently in use! We don't allow doubles, so make sure the face you desire isn't already taken!
  • The Canon list - Just like above, here you can see all the canon characters in use from fandoms. Make sure the character you want to take isn't already taken!

Once you get done perusing, you can get started on your application! You can find the blank template here, and post a WIP into the pending applications forum. Once they're done be sure to alert the admins in the 'It's Done' thread!

An admin posted in my bio that I'm accepted and moved it to the 'accepted applications' forum. What does this mean? What do I do now?
Now you do your claims! All the numbered ones are required. Limits and Warnings is optional, but strongly encouraged - none of us want to accidentally hurt someone we love to RP with!

Okay! Claims are done! Now?
Now you're free to post once an admin or a mod adds your claims and your name color changes! http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Congratulations on joining Re-Bye and have a great time!!

companies! !!
Just a quick rundown of each company!

CM Entertainment:

  • Officially, a company 'for the musician' + all about freedom of artists
  • As such, CM allows any and all of its artists to take shots writing or producing their own music
  • CM also has the loosest contracts of the three companies
  • On the outside: CM artists are known for being controversy magnets, lacking in PR; but make up for this in being very popular
  • On the inside: CM is the friendliest + least competitive company; also the company most prone to acting like a family and goofing off as they value community interaction.

Sealight Records:

  • Officially the 'bigwigs' of the industry, the long-lasting favorites
  • However, their contracts are rather strict, having resulted in several disputes in the past
  • The most competitive company - they have to keep their spot at the top secure, after all!
  • On the outside: Sealight is polished and well put-together. Their artists are flawlessly produced and have stellar reputations.
  • On the inside: Sealight is prone to in-fighting, managerial disputes (including the staff getting away with things they should not), and oftentimes fatigue + dissatisfaction from their artists.

BOSS:

  • Officially the 'has-beens' of the industry, old fame that is clawing their way back to the top
  • Contracts are generally not as strict as Sealight, but they do forbid cross-company interaction (which many idols ignore)
  • A company of reinvention and experimentation to find a new way to share music
  • On the outside: They are known especially for their visuals - rather than having a subset of actors and actresses, they have a dance crew that other companies rent out as back-up dancers for their videos.
  • On the inside: BOSS's artists are seasoned and there are openly mentor-student relationships between older debuted idols + staff members and younger trainees who know they won't debut themselves until they're older and more reliable.
