<div style="width:350px; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/BGfwMLT.png); padding:20px;"><div style="font-family:'Lobster Two';font-size:36px;line-height:30px;font-style:italic;color:#E8C8C8;margin-bottom:-10px;">step into my parlor...</div><div style="width:330px;background-color:rgba(34,34,34,.7);border-top:solid 10px #C48B89;border-bottom:solid 10px #C48B89;min-height:200px;font-family:calibri;font-size:12px;line-height:13px;color:#CCCCCC;text-align:justify;padding:10px;">one of the giant principles of forensic science or genetic testing was to avoid cross contamination at all costs. reagents needed to be labeled and checked for expiry, sample tubes needed to be clearly labeled and pipettes needed to be changed then sterilized after each use. that way samples and results would remain pure and turn out the way they were expected to. a principle that boss also liked to adhere to since it could more easily keep their idols in line if they weren't exposed to the free wheeling ways of sealight or cm entertainment and therefore demand to act like childish, crazy buffoons. as she began her assignment at cm - one she had expected should have been near it's end by now - ara had followed that ideal as much as she could, trying to remain as professional and aloof as possible while also ingratiating herself into people's lives so that she could find a way to help boss bring cm down and get her career back. and for the most part she had succeeded. however after six months, a little cross contamination had in fact happened.<p>
when the pillow forts had started appearing in the trainee and idol dorms, ara had rolled her eyes and passed it off as it being some stupid little cm thing. and then several common areas had had their couches stripped to make rather impressive forts that were perfect for launching pillow fights from. at first ara had told herself that she would stick out like a sore thumb if she didn't participate. then she told herself it would give her new office a little bit more life and create a privacy curtain similar to the one she had made in her dorm during exams. ('examity' was a real and very dangerous condition mainly affecting students of high academic ambition or those engaged in engineering, science or stupid enough to think double majoring was a great idea. treatment included creating study caves and getting black out drunk three hours after the last exam of the semester.) with that in mind, instead of plowing through paperwork as she shoved a handful of dumplings in her mouth, ara had stepped out during her lunch hour to get a queen sized lightweight, semi sheer comforter cover (black with a gold and silver abstract overlay) duct tape, hooks that could be shoved through the ceiling tiles, crazy glue and - after finding a clearance bin marked 90% off - half a dozen black pillows shaped like tubes and two memory foam pillows that had ripped seams that she could sew up in a jiffy. <p>
now here she was in her office standing on her desk trying to put a ceiling tile back in place now that it had the added weight of a planter's hook that swore it could accommodate 10 pounds of weight (which had been crazy glued then duct taped to within an inch of it's life on the inside to hold it in place) while it was attached to the aforementioned comforter cover. after all, she had to make sure she got the desired cavernous effect she was going for and she wasn't going to stand on the desk more than she had to. after all, standing on her desk wasn't exactly the smartest thing in the world to be doing as it probably wasn't designed to hold up a person's weight for an extended period of time, especially not in her stocking feet. (she had been smart enough to take off her high heels before jumping up, though this probably wasn't the best day to be wearing a skirt, even if the "legs for days" look made it easier to distract the contingent at cm attracted to women.) the end result wouldn't be a fort per say, but it would be something. and who knew? perhaps it would cut down on the distractions. assuming of course she could get it set up..."stupid tile. came out just fine, but now won't go back in."
she muttered to herself, along with a few other pieces of choice vocabulary, not realizing that her office door had opened. </div></div>♥♥♥

so now that the plans have been (mostly) ironed out it turns out that i should post one of these...
so my older cousin is getting married on saturday and my entire family was invited. because i live off the beaten path and work 40 hours/week i'm travelling separately from the rest of the family for part of the trip. so on friday, i will have access to the train's wifi until about 2:15 eastern when i hit kingston, but it's 80% likely that the internet at the family cottage in the boonies is not set up. (which is fine because sj needs to redye her hair >>) saturday will most likely be internet less as well. for one thing we need to leave the boonies at the crack of stupid because we need need to stop in quebec to get my step-grandmother, then double back to ottawa for the shindings. (which will include a game my siblings and i are calling "how terrible can we dance before we're kicked off the dance floor?") sunday is up in the air. my folks all have to return to home, but i booked monday off, so i might wander the nation's capital and take a 10 hour train trip home a day later because i haven't been in forever.

<div style="width:350px; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/BGfwMLT.png); padding:20px;"><div style="font-family:'Lobster Two';font-size:36px;line-height:30px;font-style:italic;color:#E8C8C8;margin-bottom:-10px;">@sora kang
</div><div style="width:330px;background-color:rgba(34,34,34,.7);border-top:solid 10px #C48B89;border-bottom:solid 10px #C48B89;min-height:200px;font-family:calibri;font-size:12px;line-height:13px;color:#CCCCCC;text-align:justify;padding:10px;">with the announcement last week about two upcoming girl groups for the late 2011 and early 2012 promotion cycle, ara and the other female trainees had all been in a state of anticipation, many teetering between hope of being picked and fear that they wouldn't. even ara wasn't immune as her inner voice alternated between telling her this was her shot and reminding her that since she was under 20 she didn't stand a chance. the second voice - which for some stupid reason sounded like ji-min - was the louder one since a lot of the boss trainees were in their twenties before they were put into a group or debuted as a solo act. on the other hand, ara didn't see why she couldn't have hope - yes she was young to debut and had only been in training officially for two years, but she was proving that being a quick learner could make up for lost time. the vocal instructor seemed to like her and after two years, her endurance to keep up with dance practices had spiked. and, as the speed in which she picked up most aspects of the training proved, she was probably one of the smartest in this current crop. (one only had to look at her taste in reading material compared to her roommate who had barely passed her courses to graduate.)<p>
with only twelve spots between the two groups - BLACKLACE would have five and kisskiss would have seven - competition for spots would be fierce as the girls would hve to start considering spots. ara figured that gemma and jewel were shoe ins given the length of time they had been with boss, which really left ten spots. doing the math, ara figured that if she wanted a spot now, she'd have to step up her game even more. which was why, after a grueling day of dance practice that left her feet throbbing, she was sitting in front of the coffee table in the trainee dorm living room, using it to brace her legs as she practiced her splits...and her english pronunciation at the same time. while being a history nerd meant she could remember the weirdest information at the drop of a hat and being a burgeoning computer expert - she had already become known as the dorm geek monkey every time the wifi router decided to act stupid after fixing it twice before the techs got there - meant that using the latin alphabet wasn't a problem it turned out that the english language as a whole kind of was. it frustrated the teenager to no end. she felt like since she had a little background in c++ and basic coding learned from her heinous ex boyfriend, english should have been a snap. but nooooooo.....<p>
of course it wasn't entirely her fault. languages had never been stressed at her cousin's house and her high school had introduced some concepts, but nothing immersive. and of course it turned out that the first rule of english was "their our know rules" and the second rule was "there are exceptions for the exceptions" especially in spelling. (the chinese trainee hai-lee had made a bunch of them laugh a while back when she'd found a cartoon depicting the english language as a school bully - only instead of beating up other language for lunch money, it was after spare vocabulary. which, ara was finding, was an apt metaphor. granted pronunciation was a problem too. apparently a bland "north american" accent was the goal since the "queen's english" of the united kingdom and australian accents were near impossible to understand (even by other english speakers). as it turned out were a few of these regional accents. ara and a few others had watched an accent video a while back and had been unable to tell that the "american south," "boston" "texas twang" and "newfoundlander" accents had actually yielded something other than gibberish. as she mouthed the words of the page in front of her, she heard footsteps and briefly glanced up to see it was only sora - topaz. gotta get used to all these stage names!
- a trainee that ara didn't mind dealing with since she actually had a brain and used it from time to time. "evening!"
she waved, still in her split before the coffee table. "want to help me murder this english textbook?"
she asked, half joking, not being able to resist adding sotto voice "twelve years of school being in the top bunch and all it takes is a foreign language to sweep it all away."
